When will Gran Turismo 5 finally arrive????

Gran Turismo 5 prologue is killing us!

If like us, you have already mastered Eiger Nordwand, scored over 10’000 points drifting your Blitz ER34 and have miraculously stayed awake long enough to accumulate enough prize dinero to purchase one of the devilishly speedy F1 Ferrari F2007’s (I think I recall 87 cumulative Daytona races in some tuned monstrosity to get the £1 million or so required – long!), you might be getting pretty bored.

“Bored! How can you say that?” I hear you cry. Well, bored is probably too harsh a word, for of course the clever little guys at GT HQ have given us our own little piece of gaming genius. We need not mention, the next generation of graphics (‘we thank you’ PS3), the immense attention to detail regarding the physics of the machines you drive, full online compatibility and the new online drift point score ranking – so you can now prove to your mate in Spain, that you do totally own him!  And of course the uncountable hours of gaming joy GT prologue gives you, however that’s just it – it’s a prologue, where is the real deal.

Gaming networks and forums the world over are speculating when the long awaited GT5 will appear, it’s been 4 years since the last GT and that was meant to arrive a year before that, but was postponed as it wasnt quiet right! We wish we could ask Kazunori Yamauchi exactly what’s going on but of course we can’t we just have to wait. But like children waiting for christmas we are finding this increasingly harder to do.

One thing is for sure though, GT5 is going to be the nuts!

South Park funnies – Create your own Cartman!

We at Green i Design are big fans of South Park. For a long time in fact, ever since we were mere 12 year olds, when the hit show first burst on to our screens in 1997, we have loved it – all 12 seasons. The genius duo, Matt Stone and Trey Parker‘s South Park, has since grown from the ‘ingrate cartoon’ it was initially deemed, into a first class satirical parody of our times.

If you haven’t seen such classic episodes as ‘Cartman gets an Anal probe’, ‘Big Gay Al’s big gay boat ride’ and ‘Osama bin Laden has farty pants’, then to be honest you haven’t lived.

In the mean time, for any of you who care, we found a funky little application online which allows you to create your own Southpark characters. Take a look below, you may think it’s stupid but it’s actually super addictive, not unlike the programme itself.

I made one below, I like to call him ‘Cedric the gored ginger kid’

So go on make one yourself and send us your screen shots… a prize for the best one!

Banksy aka Robin Gunningham = Lame

Well, apparently, street art guru and general trendo mystery Banksy, is not so much of a mystery any more.

Thanks in part to a spazztastic newspaper we have here in the UK, anyone who cares on this rainy little island will now know that Banksy aka guerrilla graffiti god is no other than Mr Robin Gunningham from Bristol…

This is so not news worthy, in fact it’s so boring I’d rather read every bio of every contestant on this years Big Brothe… ok no I’m being dramatic, but this is still super dull…. But for some unknown reason people have been going mad about this. Seriously there are chat rooms and forums dedicated to this topic right now, discussing to ad nausium the who’s, the whats, the wheres and the whys –

How could they out Banksy?” erm. who cares?

Apparently hes middle class” oh god no, not middle class.

Banksy is such a hypocrite selling his work for millions when he’s meant to be for the people” Nope. Just smart. If Brangelina wanna spend a 3rd world countries GDP on a bit of canvas and some spray paint then who’s the fool here really guys?

I particularly enjoyed this response:

“Spray painting other peoples property, without their permission, is vandalism. It hardly matters to the victim (for all you trendy lefties out there, that’s the property owner who has to pay the clean up costs) whether the creep responsible was lower, middle or upper class.”

Meh! This is dull and we’ve heard it all before, miserable it may be, this gimp might actually have a point, but will we let him have it? neeeeeeveeeeerrrrrrr.

It’s a standard fact that Banksy is cool, if you don’t agree? Then well you’re wrong… and a mega ‘tard. We can’t be bothered to explain why he is cool. You’re so late to this party.

So just in case you care, here’s some good old examples of ‘vandalism’ for you to discuss to death. Enjoy.

Woman from the inside out – skills and MS Paint.

Bit late to this party, but yar yar we’ve heard it all before – this is just super cool and deserves a second coming.

Who ever drew this in the first place, has skills even Napoleon Dynamite would want – God I love that film, if you haven’t seen that film you suck.

Check it out. All in MS Paint. Talented indeed.

Tail bone bit still gets me, drawing a coccyx? That even sounds weird …. eurgh, but otherwise amazing.

Excuse lame music.

Time to dust off those virtual boots again…

Latest screenshots have been released from EA for FIFA 09

Latest screenshots have been released from EA for FIFA 09

After all the fun and excitement at the Euro 2008 Championships this summer, and the fact that we in England had nothing much to do with it, you’d be forgiven for not even remembering that we actually play football in this country – but we DO and the new English Barclays Premier League season kicks off in just over a months time and with it comes the couch potato’s option of the latest football console games – FIFA 2009 and Pro Evolution Soccer 2009.

First out the gates seems to be FIFA 09, with an official website going up straight after the end of the Euros (so as not to affect any sales of the EA made Euro 2008 game).

Judging from the screenshots you can find on the site, it seems like EA are coming out with another good offering for the football fanatic. Last years Fifa 08 shocked the gaming community with its amazing visuals and, for once, not ‘throw-your-controller-at-the-telly-in frustration’ gameplay. I mean, it was actually good fun – you really started to feel like you were getting some of the control and freedom of play of the game that the Fifa series had always been lacking…

Hang on… wait… I’m being too nice I think… The players didn’t do exactly what you told them to, through balls were useless, player selection was still weird and crossing never really felt fluid enough.

So we can see by the screenshots that EA haven’t let themselves down on the graphics front, but what has been done on the gameplay side of things? The bit that actually makes or breaks wether you keep picking it up and playing it.Well according to EA – lots;

  • 250 additions and enhancements to core gameplay,
  • new animation technology that creates more responsive first-time shooting and passing,
  • faster and more controlled dribbling, and improved trapping, and new player momentum physics that delivers realistic player collisions, authentic jostling for the ball, and more variation in tackling.

So thats what they say! All sounds very promising, lets just hope EA deliver the goods and maybe they can really start to stake claim again as the better football fans choice.

Other than the gameplay its good to hear that developers have been working on further improving the ‘Be a Pro’ feature in 08. If you haven’t played it – it basically meant you could take control of solely one player for the duration of a game, being responsible for their every move, run, tackle, pass, shot or goal. It played better than it sounded on paper to be honest and people obviously agreed because this time out you can take control of your chosen player throughout a full-on career, taking part in all the league fixtures to the rainy cup ties of early February.

All of this along with the obvious annual update of club kits, players, stadia etc. and the promise of Platform specific game features, such as 8 vs 8 arcade fun football and table football on the Wii to Quizzes on the PSP and DS, should ensure another good year for EA.

Stay tuned until next time on the couch potato when we are going to be getting all the latest information on Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 and keeping you up to date on any new info on Fifa 09.
